How to handle Christmas gift “snobs”? My husband’s maternal grandparents have very odd ideas of what is appropriate to give them for Christmas. They basically want cash or a gift card and they’re very particular about the amount.My husband and I moved from Delaware to Alabama this June and are planning on driving up for Christmas as a surprise. He just graduated from college and we’re trying to buy a house so money is a little tight now. We thus can’t afford to give large sums of cash to everyone so I’ve decided to make presents for our parents and his grandparents. The only people I’m giving money to are his younger brothers and my younger sister.I’m VERY crafty and good at baking so I’ve decided to make little gift baskets filled with homemade Christmas ornaments, cookies, candy and other goodies. My husband is afraid that his grandmother is going to make a stink because we “didn’t spend money on her”. I was taught from a young age that a thoughtful homemade gift often times shows more love than one bought at a store.
